Editorial policy
Prime News Compass aims to make news-reading choices visible and to be precise about what an article does and does not establish. We explain our approach plainly and correct errors when they are identified.
Accuracy and sourcing
We check factual statements against suitable source material and take care not to present an example as proof of a general rule. We distinguish reported information from interpretation, describe uncertainty where it matters and avoid implying that a headline alone carries the full evidence. Readers may contact us with a correction or a question about a source.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for clarity, relevance and accuracy. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable editorial assessment or control over independent coverage. Where a partner has contributed to a piece or placement, that relationship is labelled so readers can recognise it.
Corrections
When we confirm a material error, we amend the affected text and add a clear correction note explaining what changed. We review correction requests on their merits and may ask for the relevant passage or supporting material. Small changes to wording that do not alter meaning may be made without a separate note.
Images and illustrations
Illustrations are chosen to clarify or frame an idea, not to stand in as documentary proof. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when they are, they are labelled accordingly. Captions should make clear when an image is illustrative rather than a photograph of a reported event.
Read closely. Keep your bearings.
News is easier to assess when its claims, sources and limits are kept in view. We make those parts visible without telling readers what to think.
